What is an estimated reading?

If at any time your local utility company is unable to submit a precise meter reading in a timely manner, information from your local TDSP will be used to estimate your energy usage. New Leaf uses this estimate to create your energy bill, but does not create the estimate itself. If necessary, subsequent bills will be adjusted when your TDSP provides an accurate meter reading. Any monthly bill that has been estimated will include an "Estimated Bill" notice.

Usually if the local utility company does not read your meter on time, it is because the technician could not access your service address meter due to an obstruction, whether it is a locked gate or an animal.
