Tree Limb Unit

Accepts: loose grass, leaves, and tree limbs between 6-8 feet long, with a maximum diameter of 18 inches.
Offers: Free wood chips and mulch

Product Exchange Program

The Product Exchange Program offers residents a place to pick up home chemicals for free to use/reuse a product before it is disposed of as hazardous waste. "Home chemicals that are received in a sound container with its original label that clearly states its contents will be placed in the program for free issue.”

Accepts: Oil & oil filters, antifreeze, brake fluid, transmission fluid, automotive style and rechargeable batteries, paints, fertilizers & pesticides, solvents & degreasers, poisons, pool chemicals, hobby supplies, aerosol cans, acids & drain cleaners, tires (require a processing fee)

Teacher Recycle Locker

The Teacher Recycle Locker is a place where residents may drop off recyclable items for teachers to use in their classrooms and other programs.

Accepts: Cardboard rolls from paper towels & toilet paper, clean baby food jars with lids, large coffee cans, cloth remnants, other items that teachers could use for arts & craft projects.

Annual Events

DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS TRASH-OFF:

Abilene invites their citizens to participate in the single largest one-day cleanup even in Texas. This event usually occurs the first Saturday of April.
